The MFRC Youth Hub mural embodies the transformative power of knowledge through its central motif: an owl caught mid-takeoff, wings outstretched as it prepares to soar from its foundation of books. The owl represents wisdom in motion, while the stacked books and plants symbolize the essential resources that fuel both personal and community growth.

Nine local youth brought this vision to life through an 8-week paid apprenticeship. For many, this marked their first job and inaugural experience creating professional art. Working alongside experienced muralists, they mastered every step—from initial sketches to color mixing to final brushwork. The vibrant, bold style captures their collective energy and creativity. More than just a beautiful installation, this mural demonstrates the extraordinary potential unlocked when communities invest in their youth, right at the heart of their gathering space.
