The mural "Crossing Paths" visualizes the story of Oshawa's name, exploring themes of Belonging, Unity, Collaboration, and Creation through our shared connection to nature. The artwork depicts a physical landscape where paths meet, featuring vibrant water, local wildlife, and engaging portraits to tell a unified story of our collective place and journey forward.
Born from direct collaboration, the artwork's design was created in consultation with the staff, stakeholders, and service clients of the Durham Social Services office at 200 John St. Their essential feedback about Oshawa, what they wanted to see represented, and their preferred artistic style directly informed and inspired the final vision.
Special thanks to The Regional Municipality of Durham for commissioning this project.
